We have been looking forward to trying this unique concept from Jose Andres, blending spanish and chinese cultures into one seemed very strange to me. When looking at the menu it’s not really fusion more two different styles of cuisine in one restaurant. There are some chinese dishes and some spanish. We decided to try a good selection of both.

    Chilaquiles con Chorizo
    fried egg/tortilla chips/ house-made chorizo/chipotle chile sauce/ Chihuahua cheese

Only available on the brunch menu. These were the best chilaquiles I’ve had anywhere.

    Pancita al Pastor
    slow-cooked pork belly/ pineapple

These were so good. Nothing better than a big piece of pork belly. Tough to have al pastor any other way now. Must have every time!

    Viva China*
soft beef tendon/ Kumamoto oyster/scallions/ Sichuan peppercorn sauce

    Silencio
    duck tongue/rambutan fruit

Lamb Pot Stickers Stuck on You
    vegetables/crispy lace

    Quail Egg Sui Mai
    quail egg/shrimp/pork/ waterchestnuts/mushrooms/peanuts

These were so unique and are another must have item.

    When Pigs Fly
    delicate steamed buns/Chinese barbeque por

    Nice, but Naughty
    sautéed lotus root/fresh pea shoots/sesame

    Papas fritas
    fried potatoes with XO sauce

    Pozole Rojo
    shredded pork/hominy/ guajillo chile

    Accompaniments to Pozole Rojo

    Like Water for Chocolate
fried quail/ dragon fruit/rose petals/chestnut and dragon fruit sauce

    Mango Sticky Rice
    our surprising version

Overall we liked China Poblano it’s a perfect lunch spot. We had a few misses on this visit but the ones that we liked, we really liked and would go back for just those items alone. I look forward to returning and trying more of the menu.
